The brief provided was to educate the Australian public about Mr.
Crystal’s Award-Winning Broadway play 700 Sundays and create
excitement to ensure sold out seasons in Sydney and Melbourne.
During the announcement and tickets on sale phase of the
campaign Kerry O’Brien Publicity set about creating media coverage for the play which reached many demographics.
Accessing major talent for publicity is often difficult, however Mr. Crystal was happy to undertake key publicity opportunities. Ticket sales in Australia were launched with a
very personal story on 60 Minutes (who flew to Los Angeles to interview him at his home) and major cover features in The Australian Colour Magazine, Sunday News Limited Group and Fairfax Newspaper Saturday editions.
Kerry O’Brien Publicity also produced a national media conference when Mr. Crystal arrived in Australia which received national television, radio, newspaper and online coverage, we created major media and celebrity events out of the opening nights in each city and ensured regular ongoing publicity in high profile media outlets during the seasons. The tour was complete sell-out.
